Test Patterns
Television test patterns used to set up Cameras
Film Chains, and other Tv equipment
Before the invention of CCDs, "charge coupled divices" these charts were used to align television pick-up tubes
Plumicon, Vidicon, and Saticon
Ball Chart
The Ball Chart was used normally with a crosshatch pattern superimposed over it, to position camera tubes electroniaclly, setting up: hight, width, and horz/vert lin.
Resolution Chart
The resolution chart was used to set focus
and beam alignment
Registration Chart
The registration chart is used to superimpose the red and blue tubes to the green tube.
Chip Chart
The chip chart is used to color balance the RGB signals.
It is very interesting that a black and white chart is used to set up the "color" on tv cameras!!!
